FREE REMOTE INTERNET ACCESS FOR PLCS AND MACHINES |
|
eWON’s Free+ service of Talk2M is an Internet connectivity tool designed to address the growing need for broadband and wireless access in the automation world for remote maintenance and access to remote equipment. The key added value of Talk2M is full integration of IT security standards by enabling Internet tunneling between the user and the remote machine without requiring any changes to IT network security settings at either end. This major breakthrough facilitates easy deployment while hiding the complexity of the IT network infrastructure.
On request or permanently, depending on the integrated modem of the eWON unit, a secure VPN connection to the Talk2M web server is established using a UDP or TCP HTTPS port, thereby passing through the firewall and proxy server. At the other end, the user establishes a secure VPN connection to the Talk2M web server. The Talk2M server acts as a relay to interconnect the two VPN tunnels. The information exchanged during the communication session is encrypted (128-bit SSL), and only authenticated users can connect to the eWON unit.
This service also allows an easy and seamless upgrade to the ‘Pro’ version, with no local change in eWON configuration nor any disruption in eWON connections. A completely renewed PC client (eCatcher 3) interfaces both Free+ and Pro services. Clearly, remote machines or installations worldwide are just one click away and at broadband speed.
The Free+ service replaces the old Talk2M Free, which met great success among machine builders and system integrators. It complements the historical and pioneering Talk2M Free offering with several added-value features.

WIRELESS (RF) CEILING MOUNTED PIR PRESENCE DETECTORS |
|
CP Electronics’ EBDSPIR-AT-PRM is a passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor combined with a switched output channel. The output channel comprises a mains voltage relay capable of simple on/off switching. Functioning as a presence detector, the unit can turn lights on when a room is occupied and off when the room is empty. Optional settings allow lights to be turned off in response to ambient daylight. The unit also includes stored scenes for versatile manual on / off control of lighting.
The EBDSPIR-AT-PRM can be used as a standalone unit or integrated with other devices as part of a system. The built-in RF transceiver allows wireless communication with all other An-10 compatible products such as the AT-BB-IN switch input unit. The AT-BB-IN is useful for pushbutton scene selection and absence detection. All functionality is fully programmable.
These compact An-10 detectors provide automatic control for lighting, heating and ventilation loads. The detector can be mounted either flush into a ceiling tile or using a surface mounting box. The low profile design means the unit can be mounted in a narrow ceiling void. No external control boxes are required as the unit is self contained. The simple plug-in connections reduce installation time.
Three variants are available including the EBDSPIR-AT-PRM Wireless (RF) ceiling PIR presence/ absence detector with lux level sensing; EBDSPIR-AT-DD Wireless (RF) ceiling PIR presence/ absence detector with DSI/DALI dimming; and EBDSPIR-AT-AD Wireless (RF) ceiling PIR presence/ absence detector with 1-10 V analogue dimming.

One of the aims of energy monitoring is to provide industrial organizations, especially companies with large energy consumption, with a monitoring tool to reduce their energy expenses. In most cases, the information available from the main electricity meter does not allow verification of the accuracy of the data on the electricity bill or even the identification of major energy consumers inside the factory. In addition to evident cost savings on annual energy expenditures, there is also increasing pressure from large organizations to reduce energy consumption by 20% by 2020. Quantifying consumption is a technical prerequisite for taking control of energy consumption. The eWON 4102 industrial router provides suitable hardware for system integrators who are looking for a complete turnkey solution for energy metering and monitoring. The eWON unit is capable of collecting and storing data coming from the utility meters (gas, electricity, and water) and can support two interface modes for system versatility: pulse counting and Modbus.
For this purpose, the eWON 4102 industrial router provides up to eight digital inputs for connection to pulse output meters. Another option is to use Modbus to connect an external I/O module directly to an eWON 4101CD or 4102 industrial router. This solution supports a large number of connections, with up to 40 metering stations, since most of the time users want to retrieve data originating from secondary meters that, unlike the main electricity meter do not provide a pulse output. This approach allows an eWON industrial router to perform data acquisition and logging for sensors, secondary electricity meters, power quality instruments, and so on. After the data has been acquired and logged, the eWON unit forwards it to a central database at defined intervals. Using mobile technology, such as GPRS or EDGE, allows this process to be independent of the customer’s landline infrastructure. In the database, raw pulses are converted into data based on physical units, and a web interface enables the display of customer consumption figures (active and reactive power, statistics, etc.).
The eWON 4102 industrial router provides a complete, standard, open and reliable M2M solution for automatic meter reading. It enables automatic collection of data from water meters and/or energy meters (gas or electricity) and transfers this data to a central database for billing and/or analysis. The ability to log data from internal I/O ports or external modules (via RS232) and forward the data to a central location makes the eWON 4102 and 4101CD industrial routers suitable for use as standard products for interfacing with any desired user-defined higher-level application. This approach can be used with any desired communication media and supports fast deployment via FTP.
